Graph Searching in Canada (GRASCan) Workshop 2017

August 7 - August 8, 2017 at Grenfell Campus

The nearest airport is Deer Lake (YDF), which is a 40 minute drive to campus. There is car rental, shuttle service, and taxis at the airport.

There are a number of accommodation options both on and off campus.

Grenfell Campus - Residence/Chalets:
These rooms range in price. Grenfell is slightly removed from most of the restaurants. There is a coffee shop that is fairly close, but there limited dining options on campus. Many of the rooms have refrigerators and/or kitchenettes.

Greenwood Inn and Suites:
This is just slightly further from Grenfell than the Glynmill Inn, in the same area. Rooms are usually slightly less expensive.

Hotel Corner Brook:
This is further from Grenfell than the both the above hotels. This would be the cheapest hotel option in Corner Brook.

Options by the highway (that need a car) are Comfort Inn Corner Brook and Quality Inn Corner Brook.

There are other hotels and B&Bs to stay in Corner Brook. There are good hotels outside town in Steady Brook about 10 KM away. If there are any questions about the area, please contact: Jared Howell jahowell@grenfell.mun.ca.

See this for restaurants, and this for some local hikes.

We will be organizing an informal excursion the day after the conference to Gros Morne National Park, which is an hours drive outside Corner Brook. There are several hikes there of varying length, including one to the top of Gros Morne that takes about 6-8 hours return. There is a boat tour of a landlocked fjord and whale watching in Bonne Bay (although there likely will be few whales in August). See the map and visit the Parks Canada site for more information on the hikes.
